CAHC - 2008 ARETE HONORS

In 2008, The Canadian National Amputee Hockey Team was recognised by CBS Sports Arete Honors for Courage in Sport. Past recognised athletes include the likes of Lance Armstrong, Muhammad Ali, and Tiger Woods to name a few. The yearly event honors athletes that have aspired to excellence and overcame unbelievable obstacles.

As with much of my work which hasn't been posted, I sometimes need a reminder to share my work with the public. The reminder came when I received an emailed link to the CAHC team portion of the 2008 Arete Honors program on YouTube a few days ago. I figured some of the photos I shot last year, when the program was being filmed might nicely accompany the posted video.

Next week I'm heading out to Montreal to cover the training camp. In April the 2010 ISIHF World Championships will also be taking place in Montreal where team Canada will try to win their 5th straight gold medal.
I'll be there as well. I'll post more info on my blog once it becomes available with schedules and stuff for those that want to come and cheer on their favorite team.

The Canadian team is always looking for sponsors - especially corporate ones. If anyone out there in Canada (or worldwide for that matter) that has money and would like to help out a team that has won nothing but gold medals, and proudly represents a nation in the greatest sport of all time, please get in contact with Don, Tom, Allan or Anita ... at your earliest convenience of course!

In the meantime, sit back and relax, at least for the next 7 minutes, and watch a great video about a truly awesome hockey team. Who knows... you might even get inspired.

Kendal + Pierre

I thought I'd post this before I go to sleep.. 2 engagement shoots and a maternity shoot tomorrow.. fingers crossed it don't rain!

One of my favorite shots from Kendal and Pierre's engagement session. I think I might start taking more photos like this..

For those who are interested. Edited in lightroom, combined in photoshop.

No Way Out - London

These photos were shot about a year ago while in London, England. Never posted these.. heck.. I havn't posted any pix from our big trip.... soon they will find a place on the intraweb... after all the wedding edits are done.

What I love about London (amongst other things), is how pedestrian friendly it is. The Tube is super efficient - little confusing at first, but the best way to get around.

Quebec City - 3frames

Kay and I went to shoot our good friends Renaud and Caroline's wedding a month ago in Quebec. Before leaving we took a walk through Quebec City. 3 shots from our walk. Used a Canon 17mm TS-E. Super nice lens.

Blog Updates Almost Complete?

Ok... so I've just spent the last 6 hours trying to update all my posts with the new larger size photos.... and I've run into a small roadblock.

Even though I'm a complete noob when it comes to coding I've managed to update/rejuvenate my old posts with photo previews at 640p. The blogger coding has changed quite a bit since 2006, and I somehow figured out how to adapt the code from Stephmodo's post (see previous post on Updating Blog) to the changes... Unfortunatly all of my posts prior to January 09, 2007 seem to have a significantly different coding to them which to the best of my limited coding knowledge won't allow me to change the size of my photos.

Below is the code from my very first post in 2006. If anyone knows how to make the preview photos bigger you will win my gratitude....and a gold star.

Anyone? Beuller.... Beuller?

In other news... I'll be posting 3 weddings and a bunch of newspaper assignments up soon... hopefully by the end of the week.

And this is how I feel after staring at code for the past 6 hours...

Updating Blog

Sorry if all the photos arn't the same size yet. Working on it.

Two useful links I found for modifying a blogger based blog.

Make Minima wider:
http://bguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/minima-with-wider-post-area.html

Post with larger photos:
http://www.stephmodo.com/2009/02/how-to-enlarge-photos-on-blogger-part-3.html

...now the above method for posting larger photos is easy enough, but it's going to take a lot of time to manually tweak each post. Anyone know of any shortcuts?
