Trinity College - University and College Presidents' Climate Statement of Action


Andy Orchard, Provost, Trinity College signed the University and College Presidents' Climate Statement of Action which will help reduce the Universities carbon foot print by the creation of energy efficient facilities, and the retro-fitting of existing ones.
Performing Diaspora 2009 @ Yorkgate Mall





York University Students perform West African drumming and dance at Yorkgate Mall, as part of "Performing Diaspora 2009: Celebrating Black History Month Through Dance and Music". The performance had two special guests Djembe drum master Billy Nankouma Konaté from Guinea and dancer-choreographer Sani Abu from Nigeria.

Red & Blue Bowl - U of T vs. York




Toronto Varisty Blues went on to beat the York Lions 58-7, winning their first Argo Cup in 12 years at the annual Red and Blue Bowl at Varsity Centre.

York University students demonstrate against racist graffiti

Hundreds of York University students filled the student centre demanding action against racist graffiti found on the doors of the Black Student's Alliance. The graffiti was written coincidently on Martin Luther King Day.

High-Fidelity Simulators

OSHAWA - Nursing Professors Leslie Graham and Debbie Morrison stand back while Mr. Jones, a high-fidelity simulator gets a healthy dose of electricity from a defibrillator in the healthcare lab at the college. Durham College has received $1 million from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to create a critical care nursing, e-learning program for the province. This cutting edge program will train health-care professionals in a simulated life-like environment, based on wide variety of scenarios that will make the students more comfortable, capable and competant in dealing with medical situations in the real world. Alvin Law speaks at Durham College

The Durham College, Student Association invited motivational speaker Alvin Law to speak at the school, as part of Abilities Week on campus. Alvin was born without any arms, as his mother took the perscribed 'morning sickness' drug Thalidomide during pregnancy, causing the birth defect. He has gone through many hardships through-out his life, and has managed to overcome them with perseverance, charisma, and a sense of humour. Today he is married, a father, and speaks professionally to over 150,000 people a year.

Olivia is a second year student at Trent University, where she is a member of the fencing team that is ranked 6th in Ontario in team fencing. Maintaining a high GPA, she is also the recipient of the All Canadian Academic Award.
