The 9 trees planted by the city comprise of cherry, pear and plum, making it the first community orchard in all of Toronto. North York - Opening planting of the community garden located beside the historical John McKenzie House. The community garden, and planting was made possible by local area constituents, the Historical Society, the City, counsellor John Fillion and the Clean and Beautiful City program.

2008 CN Tower Communities in Bloom gardens.

Launch of the 4th edition of the CN Tower Communities in Bloom Gardens. 14 communities from accross Canada, from PEI to BC are represented in the gardens, with individually unique gardens symbolizing the beauty of their natural and nurtured environment.
(above) HGTV's "Greenforce" created the 'Canadian Garden' which features a gazebo and a water feature, with elements which are unique to the Canadian landscape.
(below) The Scotts EcoGarden, designed by renowned landscape designer Charlie Dobbin, built with environmentally sustainable and safe products. Visitors are able to get information at the garden of how to grow their own garden using environmentally safe products. Jill Fairbrother, Director of Stakeholder Relations, Scotts Canada, and Charlie Dobbin, Garden Solutions, designer of the Scotts EcoGarden, stand in the garden.

Corn Harvest

Blackstock - The Hope Christian Reform Church in Port Perry in conjunction with Youngfields Farm harvested 10 acres of corn, amassing to about 40 tons. The corn will be sold with the money raised being donated to the Canadian Foodgrains Banks, which will be going towards ending world hunger.

Strawberries

Strawberry season is here - and it should last for about another 3 more weeks. I went strawberry picking to Twinkleberry Farms and took along my Canon G7 for the ride.
I took a bunch of shots, but this pic reminds me of one of those could-be advertising shots that would read "From our fields to your table - support your local farmer" or "Fresh Ontario Produce".... well you get the idea...

Durham Farm Fresh Gates Open 2006 had farms in Durham Region opening their gates and barn doors to the public, also offering free tours of their facilities. Musthaven Farm in Uxbridge was one of the participating farms.
Above - Owner and farmer of Musthaven Farm, Grant Mustard attends to a one-day-old calf. Standing next to him is a five-day-old.
Below - Tours of the milking facility, and feeding area.
