Cross Country Skiing

UXBRIDGE - Whitby reisdent Ernie Pegutter has been cross country skiing a number of years, but had only discovered the Durham Regional Forest this past year. His new discovery quickly turned into his favorite place to ski, and he says he can't wait to ride his bike on the trails in the summer.

Kyoshi Alain Saily at Okami Kai dojo

UXBRIDGE - 8th Dan Goshindo Black Belt, Kyoshi Alain Saily was invited to come from France to the Okami Kai dojo to teach two seminars, one for adults and one for kids. Kyoshi Alain Saily travels to over 20 countries a year teaching seminars, emphasizing fun and martial arts fundamentals to develop confidence in his students. Here he demonstrates an exercise with orange belt Karisa during the kids seminar.

Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres
OSHAWA - Big Borthers Big Sisters of Oshawa-Whitby hosted their second annual Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres at the Lviv Hall. The competition involves Durham's finest chefs displaying their gourmet specialties. Judges started off with a wine tasting and then sat down to a variety of dinners and hors D'oeuvres before voting for their favourite.

NORTH YORK - Celebrating Don Mills Heritage: A Tribute to the Builders of Our Community @ Don Mills Library. Event held to acknowledge the city developers, builders, urban planners and the history of Don Mills. Don Mills was planned as a model town that would humanize urban life in an age of industry and automobile. Built between 1952 and 1963 on 835 hectares of land, between the west and east Don River valleys. It's design has been imitated in suburban developments across Canada.
Macklin Hancock BSA, FCSLA, FCIP, OALA, CIP, RPP, designed Don Mills.

SCARBOROUGH - Community meeting with 42 Division Police and Metro Toronto Police Chief, Bill Blair @ Stephen Leacock Collegiate. The public was invited to come and voice their community concerns and questions directly to the Chief of Police. (above) Bill Blair addresses the audience. (below) Due to a microphone malfunction, it became a more relaxed meeting, when the panel including the chief sat on the edge of the stage to speak with the audience.
